Have you seen our trunk show video of "Pat Sloan’s Tantalizing Table Toppers" yet? It’s definitely worth the watch–you’ll learn a few snippets about each of the 12 projects in the book. We all know that table runners and small table toppers are favorites among quilters. They’re easy on the budget AND easy on your schedule. Table toppers and runners let you show off your love of quilting and add a pop of style throughout your home.
Each person participating in the "Pat Sloan’s Tantalizing Table Toppers" book tour chose a project from the book and will show off their version on their social media accounts. Martingale staffer Lisa Schumacher chose to sew Main Street Perks. Pat’s version is red, white, and blue. It’s one of the cover quilts (in the bottom right of the book cover). Lisa decided to make her version using a variety of light gray prints and added a pop of teal to match her kitchen decor.
^^Lisa used strips from a Jelly Roll of Smoke & Rust by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. The instructions for Main Street Perks call for 2-1/2″ pieces, so this was the perfect opportunity to crack open a Jelly Roll.
^^She pieced her version of Main Street Perks on her Featherweight. It was perfect retreat project because it started with strips plus a little bit of yardage (borders, backing, and binding), and can be stitched–start to finish–in a weekend!
^^Here’s an in-progress photo of the sewn strips and trimmed edges. Easy peasy!
^^Lisa echo-quilted along each side of every seam to enhance the chevron-style look of the table runner.
^^She omitted the borders that Pat used in her version, and she attached the binding using her machine.
^^Lisa also pieced a couple teal strips into the binding for an extra little kick. She had a great time making this table runner and already has plans to make more toppers from the book!
Okay! Now that you’ve seen one take on Main Street Perks from "Pat Sloan’s Tantalizing Table Topper" book. Tell us in the comments which project you’d make first if you had a copy of the book. Hint: Each project is shown and described in the video at the top of this blog. We’ll randomly choose one person to win a print copy of the book. We’ll post the winner on Friday, May 27.
